Kelin Company Leads the Passing of National Design Review for Core Components of Proton Injector, Helping Domestic Proton Therapy System Achieve Breakthroughs

 On March 15, 2019, the key technological project undertaken by Shanghai Kelin Technology Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Kelin Company") for the design and implementation of the injector RFQ (Radio Frequency Quadrupole) and DTL (Drift Tube Linac) accelerating cavities and auxiliary systems of the proton radiotherapy system successfully passed the authoritative design review. This marks a solid step forward in the localization process of high-precision proton radiotherapy equipment in China.

 

As an important partner and core component supplier of Shanghai Advanced Proton Equipment Co., Ltd., Kelin Company has deeply participated in this proton injector project supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. The project is committed to developing a domestic proton radiotherapy system for precise cancer treatment, and the core subsystem, the proton injector, is fully responsible for mechanical structure design and engineering implementation by Kelin Company.

 

The proton injector acceleration system undertaken by Kelin Company is the key front-end of the entire equipment, mainly including:

- Core acceleration structures: four-wing RFQ cavity and Alvarez-type permanent magnet DTL cavity

- High-precision auxiliary systems: high-frequency power couplers, rod couplers, signal pickups, vacuum systems, precision tuners, efficient water cooling systems, high-stability bracket systems, collimation systems, control systems, and beam measurement systems

 

The system adopts Kelin Company's mature and reliable design scheme, using an advanced ECR proton source. Through two-stage efficient acceleration of RFQ and DTL, the proton beam energy is successfully increased from 30KeV to 7MeV, fully meeting the injection requirements of the downstream synchrotron. In the project, Kelin Company strictly implemented the principles of technical maturity, process perfection, schedule controllability, operational reliability, and cost optimization to ensure that the design reaches the international advanced level.
